Elk Valley library to reopen at Crossings Mall Tuesday
Kanawha County Public Library has announced the Elk Valley Branch Library will return to operation at the Crossings Mall location in Elkview on Tuesday, Aug. 1.
The Elk Valley Express Library, located at 4636 Pennsylvania Ave. in Big Chimney, closed on Saturday, July 22. Since then, the staff has been packing and relocating the collection and building inventory to the Crossings Mall location.
The Elk Valley Express Library has been serving the Elk River area since the June 2016 flood destroyed the bridge to the Crossings Mall.
Patrons are advised that items checked out from the Elk Valley Express Library that would have become due during the closure will now be due on Monday, Aug. 7. With the extended loan period in effect, no overdue fines will be assessed until after Tuesday, Aug. 1. Patrons wishing to return items before Aug. 7 can drop them off at the Elk Valley Express Book Drop until Friday, July 28, or at any other KCPL location.
Items on hold were suspended at closing on July 22 and then unsuspended when the library reopens at its new location. Patrons will be unable to choose Elk Valley as a pickup location until Friday. Contact another KCPL location to change hold pickup locations or to place a hold during the time the library will be closed.
Patrons will need to contact another KCPL location to request an Interlibrary Loan during the closure.
