Elkview martial artists compete in Ireland, bring home gold
A team of three students and two senseis (instructors) from the Elkview-based Dueling Dragon Martial Arts academy traveled to compete in the 21st Irish Cup in Dublin, Ireland, on June 17.
Dueling Dragon Martial Arts was part of the American Karate Jujitsu Union All-American Team under Soke Don Madden. The AKJU sent 18 competitors to the Irish Cup and brought 48 medals and one grand championship trophy back to the United States.
The three students and two senseis “came home with 16 of those medals, and all came back with a special patch and designation as being ‘All Irish,’ which means they took first place in their division,” said Kevin Miller, sensei and co-owner of Dueling Dragon.
