Jeff’s Auto Parts on Quick Road in Elkview is celebrating its 30th anniversary as an automotive business mainstay with a Customer Appreciation Day on Friday, May 5.

The all-day celebration will include free food and games, and visitors can register to win prizes such as tickets to an upcoming Alan Jackson concert or a set of tires valued at $400. A live radio broadcast will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, as well.

Jeff’s Auto Parts co-owners Jeff Sheets and Connie Sheets of Pinch launched the business after Jeff was laid off from his position at Walker Machinery.

“We decided to open our own business,” Connie said. “We started across the road in a little store. It was more of an auto parts store when we started. We had one bay built.”

And, over the years, business began to boom (literally).

“We’ve always worked on cars,” said Connie, “and then we moved across the road and built on the property there. We blasted dynamite for five years, because it was solid rock.”

Along with adding more service bays and trained staff members, Jeff’s Auto Parts has become a Michelin tire dealer and expanded its professional offerings with Pinch Wrecker Service and Jeff’s Pre-Owned Auto Sales.

Maintenance services the Jeff’s Auto Parts staff of nine can provide include: oil changes, state inspections, engine and transmission installations, brake and rotor repair, custom exhaust work, diagnostic evaluations, tune-ups, radiator and transmission flushes and air-conditioning upkeep.

The past three decades have had their challenges, too. Eight years ago, Jeff’s Auto Parts was devastated by a fire. “We lost everything and built it back,” Connie said.

Through it all, she said, the business is still thriving and the staff wants to show its gratitude to its customer base with Friday’s Customer Appreciation Day.

“We have had celebrations through the years, like open houses, but we really want to appreciate the Elk River and surrounding areas for letting us serve them for the past 30 years,” Connie said.

Jeff’s Auto Parts is located at 879 Quick Road in Elkview. Operating hours are 7 a.m. (for dropoffs) to 5 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. until noon Saturdays.
